There’s one for sale in Savanna and it comes with a matching hardtop! It should also be noted that this car lacks both LS package (tan leather interior, 16 wheels, etc) and the factory bodykit (aka, Tupperware), which is rare because quite a lot of these ‘02 special order cars came with either or both of those options checked. That said, this one comes with cruise control so it might come equipped with the desirable Torsen LSD!

How many were built?
239 (Vivid Yellow), 151 (Laser Blue)
What’s the color called? Vivid Yellow and Laser Blue were exclusive for the special order cars, but you could also get them in Crystal Blue, Midnight Blue, Pure White, Brilliant Black, Emerald Mica, and Starlight Silver. Just 10 were ordered in colors that weren’t Vivid Yellow or Laser Blue.
What was special? Mazda let customers spec and buy cars online in any standard color, along with Vivid Yellow or Laser Blue, and sent them to a local dealership based on your zip code. Very cool beginning of the internet age in the car world. They accepted orders until October 15, 2001 or until they got 600 orders. Mazda did not get 600 orders, so about 400 total special order cars exist. There was an exclusive “pre-order” program for members of the Miata Owner’s Club before the sale went public.

If it was closer to me, I'd probably sell a few things to make it happen. But then again I have a well documented affinity for yellow cars.

This is very true. 4500$ for a healthy-looking 5-speed NB2 without leather and only one minor body blemish (that weird mark in front of the passenger rear wheel), WITH A HARDTOP WORTH 1000$+.

It should have the LSD. Electric antenna I think only came on the comfort package, and that has LSD.
